King Gyros, located in Whitehall, (which is a short drive from most places on Columbus) is not at all what I was expecting. When I drove up to the ornate, Greek-inspired building, I had no clue that some of the most flavorful and delicious Greek food I’ve had in Columbus would be hiding inside! Yianni, the owner, came to the United States when he was a young boy from Rhodes Island in Greece. He grew up in the restaurant business, as his family members owned Columbus restaurants like Fisherman’s Wharf and The Mad Greek. Today, he is the only family member to still be a restaurant owner! And he’s owned and operated King Gyros for 28 years! It’s no wonder that he’s been around for so long because he truly knows what he is doing when it comes to food. Everything we ate was flavorful and extremely well thought out. There is nothing that Yianni serves that he wouldn’t eat and enjoy himself. Trust me when I say, King Gyros is worth the drive wherever in Columbus you live!
